Our dedicated team of medical and non-medical volunteers provides life-changing surgery.

How do we select our volunteers?

All medical volunteers must complete a credentialing process. You may complete the volunteer application online, as well as upload the supporting documentation needed to complete your file (ex: licensure), Or send us a hard copy of your application together with the supporting documents to:
The Volunteer Manager
19th Floor UCPB Corporate Offices Building
Makati Avenue, Makati City, 1200

Each applicant is then reviewed by one of our Medical Officers to ensure that we may continue to provide the best clinical care possible to all children we serve. Once you have been credentialed, you have the opportunity to select specific missions that you would like to participate in.

What does a Volunteer do and how long does a volunteer position last for?

The role of a volunteer on a mission varies greatly depending on the medical specialty. The following medical specialties comprise Operation Smile teams: Plastic Surgeon , Anesthesiologist , Pediatrician, Pediatric Intensivist, Biomedical Technician, Speech Pathologist, Child Life Specialist, Dentist, and Nursing.

There are also a limited number of non-medical positions that are included on the mission team, such as Medical Records and Patient Imaging Technicians. Each local mission usually lasts 3-7 days, much longer for international missions (10-14 days). However, Operation Smile volunteers may participate in many missions throughout their lives.
